At Earthworks Audio, we hold ourselves to a continuous process of being able to offer tremendous value to customers, to keep prices steady, and to offer more for less — even while others have been forced to raise prices to deal with inflation and supply chain challenges. From time to time, we make minor design changes that help with our internal manufacturing process.  These changes are usually imperceptible and they never impact the user.

As of May 2023, we have made a minor modification to the body tube that is used in the P30, C30 and FM podium mic lines. The overall length for the P30 and C30 has been reduced by .512″ of an inch. And each FM SKU is now 1.077″ inches shorter. The P30s and C30s are now .8 ounces lighter while the FM units are just over an ounce lighter. The image below shows the difference in length.

On their own, these changes would never even be noticed. But when compared to past models in a fleet or install situation, the new units will feel lighter and look slightly smaller when held side by side in the hand. When they are actually deployed and installed, the difference will not be noticeable. Please keep this in mind when purchasing one of these microphones — especially if you are matching these new models with an existing install. 

This will hold true for RMAs as well. If old units can not be fixed, they will be replaced with the newer slightly smaller versions.
